Purple Flower

These purple flowers intrigued me as I was walking up Unthank Road. They were in the front lawn of the Beeches Hotel. I love flowers and being surrounded by them because to me they are like angels smiling.

Lovely, aren’t they? Their common name in English is “Foxglove” but I think their Latin name is much nicer: Digitalis purpurea.
I have many dozens of them growing in my cottage. They are very hardy perennials (grow back every year) and require almost no care at all. And they are very long lasting flowers in the garden and also as cut flowers (they’ll last at least a week in a vase if you change the water every day).
I think I probably told you more than you ever wanted to know about these beauties, huh?
Cheers from Boston.

a clear blue sky is always a great background, esp for flowers!

I know, ati! And blue skies in the UK are even more precious because we don’t often see them!
