Singing Man

I have been wanting to show you some pictures of Norwich and the people who inhabit the city. Now, the photo above is not representative of the kinds of people who live here, but you will find a few of them.
He’s not exactly busking. I really don’t know what his story is. But everyday I suppose he makes a decision to get up and get dressed and head for the city centre and park himself on Gentleman’s Walk. He’d take his boom box and microphone and belt some oddly sounding songs. He’s now a regular character in the city, especially in the weekends.
I am many things - a life coach, a diversity champion, a freelance writer and translator, a dog lover, a citizen of the world, etc - but never thought of myself as a photographer. Norwich inspires me to capture snapshots of this fine Norman city. Take a trip down Norwich lanes or enjoy a walk in the park with me.

The trouble is – no one really gives him anything. Poor bloke.

I looked at your picture and read your story and came across that word again—”busking?” I saw it before and substituted begging but it didn’t seem to fit. Then I substituted vagrant and that doesn’t make sense. So I will ask what does busking mean?

Hi Abraham! Busking is the practice of doing live performances in public places to entertain people, usually to solicit donations and tips. Those engaging in this practice are called buskers. Busking is a British term used in many areas of the English-speaking world. In the United States they are more often called street performers or street musicians. Thanks for the visit!
