It’s the 31st! Grab your oranges and 12 other round fruits to make sure you have a fruitful New Year. Well, that’s a Chinese tradition which we follow in Manila. Nothing to lose – you can still eat the fruits on the 1st day of the year. We use round fruits (though we’re not Chinese) because the shape symbolizes wealth.

If you have nothing else to do today, why not swing by the city and just watch the lights? The red lights on the trees on Gentleman’s Walk are quite pretty.

Of course, there is euphoria to be had going to an after Christmas sale! So rush to your nearest Marks & Spencer or whichever is your favourite shop. Save some for my return though!
