Collins Organ

From their site:
Dominating the west wall is the Collins organ, a modern, mechanical instrument installed in the church 20 years ago. The ringing chamber surmounts the organ and the loft houses the famous Mancroft bells.
It reminds me of the Bamboo Organ in my home city in the Philippines. That would be made of wood and the sound is just glorious!
When was the last time you were in church?
I am many things - a life coach, a diversity champion, a freelance writer and translator, a dog lover, a citizen of the world, etc - but never thought of myself as a photographer. Norwich inspires me to capture snapshots of this fine Norman city. Take a trip down Norwich lanes or enjoy a walk in the park with me.

Yesterday, Joy (though I was just poking around Blythburgh Church, not attending service).
That sure is one mighty organ!

That is an impressive organ; I wonder if it replaced an older one.

Isn’t it amazing how in this one piece we witness two art forms, both music and the beauty of the instrument itself. Grand!!!

I was just going to say they have bamboo organs in Japan that I have heard and they make a different sound but just as nice or nicer than brass or metal. Nice photo.

This is just lovely. And a beautiful photograph. Bet the sound is superb.
is there a way your website can remember name, email and web address as it takes a while to fill it in everytime…?

What a music maker! Grand.
I was in church (well, Sunday School) yesterday. ..came on home instead of going to church because the weather was turning stormy. Shortly after, the tornado sirens blared, and several homes and a couple of businesses were destroyed a few miles north of our house. Glad I was home with my family!

Hey Joy!
Last time I have visited church it was… hm… Few months ago… But it’s really nice to spend some time there. I am not very religious, but… I think churches are surrounded by special atmosphere… Lovely photos!

As far as I remember, the organ is internationally famous, and people come from all over Europe to play it.
And it sounds fantastic.
