In Memory

Taken outside St Peter Mancroft, this bench was dedicated in loving memory of James Armitage Campbell, Physician and Sidesman of this church. I have mixed feelings about dedicating a bench to someone’s memory.
Would you like to have a bench dedicated to you after you’ve passed on?
I am many things - a life coach, a diversity champion, a freelance writer and translator, a dog lover, a citizen of the world, etc - but never thought of myself as a photographer. Norwich inspires me to capture snapshots of this fine Norman city. Take a trip down Norwich lanes or enjoy a walk in the park with me.

I’ve noticed the dedications on benches in my park. I don’t think it’s a bad idea. Lots of folks will see the dedication when they come to sit down.

I don’t think that it would bother me a bit.
I’d be honored if anyone wanted to dedicate anything to my memory, but a donation to a hospital or an organization that helps people get on their feet would be my memorial choice.
The bench is very pretty. I posted a bench today, too.

If someone would place their arse on my name and feel some sort of comfort, it would be good for me.

I dont think I would want a bench for me. However, I can see why its done. Maybe the person like sitting at that spot, or maybe the family likes to visit that area.
My uncle passed a few years ago and my mom got a bench like that one for his widows back yard garden area.

1) yea burried me and now you sit on me too
2) you never came near me when I was alive, but now that you want something
3) I guess, it would be nice to give comfort…

I would rather have a bench with my name on it while I’m still around…
But even so, I wouldn´t mind that much. My name on a bench? That’s an idea.

Local to me, there’s a sort of park in the bend of the river with several benches. All of them are dedicated to someone who had a connection to the park in some way. I think it’s a nice way of remembering people.
Our local pet shop owner, who died unexpectedly, had a rose bush planted in his memory, which was also nice.

In my country people once use to build street fountains in memory of somebody or something. Benches are nice and there is something special in them but I don’t know what to think about dedicating it to someone’s memory.
I like that bench and it was made with style.

No. But only because I know what dogs do when they come across a bench.
