Beautiful Buildings

Norwich is quite an eclectic city - always a mixture of the old and the new, and not just in terms of structures or new builds, but the way buildings are used.
Take for instance this row of beautiful buildings on St Stephen St. I suppose I don’t really mind if buildings are used as banks, but when they are turned into fitness centres or a hair salon, I tend to cringe.
Dive will tell us what kind of buildings we are looking at and when they were constructed and who designed them. Over to you, Dive!
I am many things - a life coach, a diversity champion, a freelance writer and translator, a dog lover, a citizen of the world, etc - but never thought of myself as a photographer. Norwich inspires me to capture snapshots of this fine Norman city. Take a trip down Norwich lanes or enjoy a walk in the park with me.

They look nice and as long as someone is using them it beats them sitting empty or being razed for parking.

I guess this happens in a lot of historic cities… nothing you can do about it…
In my home town they opened a Mc Donald in a century old building in front of an old church…

Ah, the wonderful, late, lamented and completely over-the-top George Skipper, creator of Norwich’s more deranged and beautiful buildings in the early part of the twentieth century, Joy.
One of my favourites.
You also posted his faience sculptural frieze a while back that is now part of Jarrolds.
He was a true eccentric and a brilliant designer, bless his cotton socks.

Lovely buildings. And great facades they usualy have.
As for hair dressers and fitness centers what can one say? That they are all nuts?
