Love Of My Life

He would have been 14 today…
This is Mykonos Kardis, or Myko as I fondly call him. He is truly the love of my life. When people ask me if I have children, I say two – there’s Myko and his wife, Althaea. Technically speaking, I only have one child left, but he will always be with me. There’s not a day that passes that I don’t think of him – the way he smiled, the way he made me smile, all the games we played, the jokes we shared. And he was such a great listener, too!
I miss him terribly. With his passing he took a huge part of me with him. But today, there will be no tears. It is his birthday after all! I will be watching videos of my little prince, sing him a happy birthday and blow out his candles for him. He did love cake.
To the love of my life, wishing you all the happiness in dog heaven!
PS
Do you know why he’s smiling? I have been out of town for 4 days at a conference in Cebu, and have just come back. He and Thaea were in the garage (Pinoys will know what I mean by this, or to non-Filipinos, that would be the equivalent of the front lawn). Soon as I opened the gate, he perched his feet on my thighs and my camera was ready to take a snap of his handsome face – beaming at me because he missed me as much as I missed him. The thing with Myko and Thaea, they’d miss me even if I was gone only for half an hour. And the feeling was mutual. And now I miss him more than ever.
I am many things - a life coach, a diversity champion, a freelance writer and translator, a dog lover, a citizen of the world, etc - but never thought of myself as a photographer. Norwich inspires me to capture snapshots of this fine Norman city. Take a trip down Norwich lanes or enjoy a walk in the park with me.

He would be up there looking down on his “mama” singing and watching the videos of him and he’d be happy.
What a gorgeous creature.

It is hard to lose a loved one…and dogs are special, for sure.
We had a dog that looked just like your Myko. Our teenage daughter brought him home and named him Casper. He’s gone, too.
Nice photo, and I hope you can find another dog that will also fill your heart with love.
