Fairhaven: Sunbathing Ducks

Believe it or not, these ducks were happily watching others swim as they luxuriated in the warmth of the sun!
My significant other queried, “Do you think they’re married?” I smiled. “He’s (referring to the duck on the right) been following her around since we got here.”
Duckpecked, you ask?
I am many things - a life coach, a diversity champion, a freelance writer and translator, a dog lover, a citizen of the world, etc - but never thought of myself as a photographer. Norwich inspires me to capture snapshots of this fine Norman city. Take a trip down Norwich lanes or enjoy a walk in the park with me.

We have ducks just like this around the Walla Walla Valley where I live. This time of year they’re all over the parks, but aren’t quite as prolific as the Canada Geese that have taken over just about every square inch of green space in this country. I recently posted a photo of three male mallard ducks next to a pond at a small local park. They’re lovely birds, and it’s such a treat when you find babies.
I found your blog through Ocala Daily Photo. I’ve enjoyed looking around at your blog!

Used to see wild ducks bathing in the river back in the province when I was young.
Nakaka-in love naman ang photo na ito…

Duck pecked? Are you coining a new term here? But that’s really worth noticing that both just wanted to watch on the sidelines.

Very cute.
I did have a chance to interview the guy on the right and asked him about the charge that he might be “duckpecked.”
His tail feathers jumped straight up, and his beak curled just a tad, his eyes squinted, and he quacked, “Not on your life!”
At that very moment, two little boys, aged 3 and 4 began to run toward the two ducks sunning themselves in the sun (naturally; where else would you sun yourself if you were a duck?)
and Mama Duck turned to Papa Duck and jumped into the water, yelling “Swim you duckhead!”
The last we saw Mama was about two meters ahead of Papa who was already out of breath, which is good, otherwise he’d be cursing underneath it!
This is a true story!
