Dalek

dalek

As I have mentioned a few times before, I work very closely with the people at BBC Voices. In their new studio, the Dalek can be seen just before you enter the administrative area. If you press the red button on the right, it would move and speak!

For those of you who do not know what a Dalek is:

Daleks are a fictional extraterrestrial race of mutants from the British science fiction television series Doctor Who. Daleks are organisms from the planet Skaro, integrated within a tank-like mechanical casing. The resulting creatures are a powerful race bent on universal conquest and domination, utterly without pity, compassion or remorse (it is believed by many other characters that all of their emotions were removed except hate, leaving them with a desire to purge the Universe of all non-Dalek life. However, small fractions of others such as fear occasionally surface). They are collectively the greatest extraterrestrial enemies of the Time Lord known as the Doctor. Their most famous catchphrase is “Exterminate!”, with each syllable individually screeched in a frantic electronic voice.

Doctor Who is a British science fiction television programme produced by the BBC. The programme depicts the adventures of a mysterious alien time-traveller known as “the Doctor” who travels in his space and time-ship, the TARDIS, which normally appears from the exterior to be a blue 1950s police box. With his companions, he explores time and space, solving problems, facing monsters and righting wrongs.

The programme is listed in Guinness World Records as the longest-running science fiction television show in the world and is also a significant part of British popular culture. It has been recognised for its imaginative stories, creative low-budget special effects during its original run, and pioneering use of electronic music (originally produced by the BBC Radiophonic Workshop).

In the United Kingdom and elsewhere, the show has become a cult television favourite and has influenced generations of British television professionals, many of whom grew up watching the series. It has received recognition from critics and the public as one of the finest British television programmes, including the BAFTA Award for Best Drama Series in 2006.

So, do I watch Doctor Who? Heck no.

The extraterrestrial creature doesn’t look “cute” but I’m sure, many of its British fans would love to see a full length movie version of its show.

That’s so funny. I love your honesty! And I like your photo very much.

“Who’s Dr. Who? said the owl to the chipmunk as they flew off into the sky, the chipmunk hanging from the owl’s beak.

The chipmunk said, “I don’t know, do you?” And when the owl opened his beak to answer, the chipmunk fell to the ground landing in a pile of straw into which he immediately buried himself.

He could hear the owl high above, crying “I’m Dr. Who! That’s Who!”
