If you could own any book ever printed in the world, what would it be?

Cinema Seats

cinema seats

Perhaps I’m getting old and that is the reason why I thought these seats or pretentious bean bags were a little daft. We went to Vue to obviously watch a movie, but while waiting there were no seats available and so we were forced to flop ourselves down on one of these. And the carpet wasn’t that clean! Ew.

Caramel Macchiato

caramel macchiato

I know, there is nothing extraordinary about a Caramel Macchiato. However, what was extraordinary was that I got this for free!!! In Norwich!

I walked into Starbucks and wanted a blended coffee drink – decaf, soy milk, no whip. And the reply was – “We don’t do that.”

However, the lady at the till had a brainstorm and decided to make me my own special blend. A shot of decaf coffee, some soy milk, a whizz in the blender and voila. I tried it but it needed some more flavour so she added this and that and it was a most enjoyable drink.

I offered to pay several times, but she said that it’s on the house. She said that if I really like it, I’d come back and order it again and pay for it next time. How kind!

Butterfly Pod

butterfly pod

Ok, another odd structure for you. A couple of weeks ago there was an environmental exhibit at the Forum. One thing that caught my eye was this little contraption. Shame the man obscured part of it.

Anyway, a group of people were promoting a campaign to protect endangered butterflies in Norfolk. This pod was supposed to help people visualise a Norfolk without butterflies.

I wanted to go in but was in such a rush to be on time for my next appointment so had to take a raincheck.

Dalek

dalek

As I have mentioned a few times before, I work very closely with the people at BBC Voices. In their new studio, the Dalek can be seen just before you enter the administrative area. If you press the red button on the right, it would move and speak!

For those of you who do not know what a Dalek is:

Daleks are a fictional extraterrestrial race of mutants from the British science fiction television series Doctor Who. Daleks are organisms from the planet Skaro, integrated within a tank-like mechanical casing. The resulting creatures are a powerful race bent on universal conquest and domination, utterly without pity, compassion or remorse (it is believed by many other characters that all of their emotions were removed except hate, leaving them with a desire to purge the Universe of all non-Dalek life. However, small fractions of others such as fear occasionally surface). They are collectively the greatest extraterrestrial enemies of the Time Lord known as the Doctor. Their most famous catchphrase is “Exterminate!”, with each syllable individually screeched in a frantic electronic voice.

Doctor Who is a British science fiction television programme produced by the BBC. The programme depicts the adventures of a mysterious alien time-traveller known as “the Doctor” who travels in his space and time-ship, the TARDIS, which normally appears from the exterior to be a blue 1950s police box. With his companions, he explores time and space, solving problems, facing monsters and righting wrongs.

The programme is listed in Guinness World Records as the longest-running science fiction television show in the world and is also a significant part of British popular culture. It has been recognised for its imaginative stories, creative low-budget special effects during its original run, and pioneering use of electronic music (originally produced by the BBC Radiophonic Workshop).

In the United Kingdom and elsewhere, the show has become a cult television favourite and has influenced generations of British television professionals, many of whom grew up watching the series. It has received recognition from critics and the public as one of the finest British television programmes, including the BAFTA Award for Best Drama Series in 2006.

So, do I watch Doctor Who? Heck no.
