Dying Breed

With mobile phones taking over the UK telecommunications market, the red telephone box is fast becoming a dying breed. And this makes me quite sad. To me, the red phone booth is so iconic and I would miss it sorely if it were to completely vanish from street corners.
I am many things - a life coach, a diversity champion, a freelance writer and translator, a dog lover, a citizen of the world, etc - but never thought of myself as a photographer. Norwich inspires me to capture snapshots of this fine Norman city. Take a trip down Norwich lanes or enjoy a walk in the park with me.

In Hull our phone boxes are whiteish cream! That’s because we have our very own phone company, not BT. They’re still disappearing though.

I agree, the red telephone boxes are part of the landscape in England.

They blend in and I think also have become part of the landscape as Pietro says.
Currently there are around 12,500 red boxes but BT has in progress a removal scheme. Around Leeds there are several that are listed Grade II, but I think these are the classic K6 design of 1935. Many of the others will just disappear, the ones that have not already gone.
That reminds me I must get some photos for my new Yorkshire Photography Library Paul

It’s so sad that a new breed of technology pushed these gentle telecommunication beasts away…
